● A popular example which Christian polemics and missionaries give, to try and prove the trinity to be rational, is: "The equation: 1 x 1 x 1 = 1. Similarly, God can be in 3 forms: Father, Son & Holy Ghost, but can still be 1."
This analogy is false to begin with, because you cannot multiple Father, Son and Holy Ghost to get [1] One. Even if we agree with this analogy, this is still not a plausible one. Firstly, the Bible shows Jesus as saying that the Father is the only true God (John 17:3). Therefore, the analogy fails, because it assumes each person is God and therefore is to multiplied. Since not all 3 persons are God, the analogy fails.
● Secondly, each value in the 1x1x1 equation is absolute and fully equal. This is obviously not the case with the trinity, because:
1) The Father is greater than the Son (John 14:28).
2) The Son has 2 natures (human and divine) while the Father only has 1 nature (divine).
3) The Son lacks knowledge that only the Father has (Mark 13:32).
Since the Father is greater than the Son, applying this to the math equation: 1x1x1, this would be like saying that one number in the equation is greater than the other two occurrences of the number 1. What happens then? You won't get the answer 1. You would get an answer greater than 1. Similarly, using this analogy to the trinity would not result in getting 1.
If Christians say Jesus is equal to the Father, they need to explain how they can be equal, when both do not possess the same number of natures, and both don't posses the same non-contradictory qualities of nature. They can't do it, without violating the law of non-contradiction, and violating this law would result in reductio ad absurdum (absurdity).
● Thirdly, one could say use the same standards against the Christian by saying: God is 100,000,000 persons, and 99,999,999 persons have 2 natures (Divine and man) while the other one has 1 nature (Divine). Even so, there is still one God, because: "1x1x1x1x1x1x1....etc. going all the way to 1 million."
If the Christian claims that it can be objectively proven that this is polytheism or irrational using 1 million, why isn't it polytheism or irrational using using 3?
