MALAYSIA'S SILENT INVASION TO THE PHILIPPINES FROM SABAH TO MINDANAO?

ARMM

Misuari said Malaysia had pushed the agreement to relieve pressure from the ownership question over the areas of North BorneoSabah and Sarawak, which the MNLF is claiming as parts of the Bangsamoro Nation.

“On the part of Malaysia, they made this recipe for war because they don’t want peace in our homeland. They want instability. They want crisis. They want war. So that we cannot have the luxury of time to resolve our problem over North Borneo, Sabah and Sarawak. They want to perpetuate their colonial rule over our homeland,” he said.

“With respect to our brothers in the MILF, I’m afraid (they are unaware). They are not literate enough to understand the hidden agenda of Malaysia and the Philippines,” Misuari added.

Misuari blamed the Philippine government for the alleged failure of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) where he had once served as governor.

“If there is failure, it’s the fault of the Philippine government. We were doomed to fail. They did not put up the money,” he said.

Misuari said the MNLF had previously managed to secure a $523-million loan from the World Bank for reconstruction projects in the region, but the government allegedly did not fulfill its promise of releasing P45 billion.

The 1976 Tripoli Agreement essentially made MNLF and the Philippine government make a compromise agreement to establish an autonomous region in the Bangsamoro land. The Tripoli Agreement is the basis of the mandate of the MNLF, with Misuari as the recognized leader to represent the Bangsamoro people in its struggle for freedom.

Out of the 25 provinces claimed by the MNLF for independence, the Tripoli Agreement negotiations settled to a compromise of 13 provinces to be included in the formation of an autonomous government for the Bangsamoro people, namely: Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, North Cotabato, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Davao del Sur, South Cotabato, Palawan.

“But instead of peace, this may create a condition for a rise of a new crisis that if it slips out of our hands, may lead to a war in Mindanao,” he said.

SABAH

In 1658, the Sultan of Brunei gave Sabah to the Sultan of Sulu for his help in sending Tausug Warriors to stop a rebelion and civil war. Since then, Sabah became a property of Sultan of Sulu and the Sultanate of Sulu

In 1878HM Sultan Hamalul Aklam Kiram (The Sultan of Sulu and the Sultan of Sabah), leased Sabah to a British Company of Gustavus Baron de Overdeck and Alfred Dent "The North Borneo Company.", for their used and their heirs. The leased prohibits the transfer of Sabah to any nation, company or individual without the consent of the Government of the Sultan of Sulu.

In 1946-47the leased was illegally transfered to the British Government by Overdeck and Dent when their company North Borneo ceased to exist.

On September 12,1962, the still on leased territory of North Borneo (SABAH) and the full sovereignty, the title and dominion over the territory was ceded by the then reigning Sultan of Sulu, HM Sultan Muhammad Esmail E. Kiram I to the Republic of the Philippines. The cession effectively gave the Philippine Government the full authority to pursue their claim in international courts.

In 1963, the British illegally transferred Sabah to newly formed Federation of MalaysiaUpon the illegal inclusion of Sabah into Malaysian Federation, President Diosdado Macapagal broke diplomatic relation with Malaysia.

In 1967President Ferdinand Marcos initiated "Operation Merdeke" involving the training of commandos in CorrigidorTheir task is to infiltrate Sabah.Ninoy Aquino, a Filibuster in the Philippine Senate, exposes the secret operation. Because of the expose "Operation Merdeke" became a big failure. It caused the death of Filipino Military and Civilian operatives inside Sabah. What happened next is what is known as "Jabidah Massacre" named after the Jabiddah Commandos.

Since then, no other President of the Philippines ever tried to recover Sabah, either by peaceful means like International Court of Justice or by Military force, making President Marcos the only one to ever attempt.
